Check-Ups & Cleanings
Preventive Dental Care
Along with brushing and flossing, regular visits to the dentist have been proven to help prevent tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease. Our dentists Dr. Dominique Askew Shamburger and Dr. Carl Shamburger work together with our Dental Hygiene Team to monitor your dental health and perform preventive treatments to keep your smile healthy.
Dental cleanings are an important part of maintaining your oral health as well as keeping your teeth looking great! Our recommended preventive dental care regimen includes routine cleanings and examinations every 3-6 months. At these check-up visits, we will take necessary digital xrays and your dentist will perform a thorough dental exam that includes an assessment of the condition of your teeth, jaw joints and gums, along with an oral cancer screening.
Your Child's Dental Health
Children should also be seen at least twice yearly for routine cleanings, examinations and necessary digital xrays. Fluoride treatments or dental sealants may be recommended to help prevent cavities. Learn more about children's dentistry and what to expect at your child's first dental visit.
Establishing a good oral hygiene routine early in your child's development can help keep their smile healthy for a lifetime. Read our dental tips and tricks for creating healthy habits with your child.
Periodontal (Gum) Disease
Periodontal disease is the #1 cause of tooth loss in adults. At each dental check-up visit we will measure your gums to look for signs of periodontal disease. If left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss and infection. Learn more about periodontal health and treatment.
Preventive dentistry allows us to identify and address areas of concern long before they become painful, expensive or overwhelming. Early detection and treatment can help you avoid more extensive dental procedures later. We invite you to contact our Montgomery dental office today to schedule a dental cleaning and check-up.
